Import Export Transit Insurance – New Zealand

For companies, organisation and individuals who are importing or exporting, via air or sea freight into and out of New Zealand, commercial cargoes or private household goods from and to overseas countries and require marine cargo transit insurance to cover those unforeseen circumstances, you have come to the right place to ask the question.

Import or Export Marine Cargo Transit Insurance can cover you for loss, stolen, pillaged, fire, flood and overturning of vehicle or ocean going vessel

We can offer transit insurance cover for machinery, everyday run of the mill general cargo, vehicles, boats, trailer, caravans, motor homes, motor cycles, pre-fabricated homes and buildings, building material, chilled and frozen products, private shipments of household personal effects.

Whether you are using a less than a container service (LCL) or full 20ft or 40ft container service (FCL) there is generally a policy that can be put in place to suit your commodity. (except there is no LCL sea freight service for chilled or frozen goods – only if you take the FCL service)

Import Insurance Transit Cover can be taken from overseas bond store to New Zealand bond store or MPI approved ATF site or overseas port to New Zealand port or New Zealand bond store or NZ MPI approved ATF site.

Export Insurance Transit Cover can be taken from your New Zealand commercial premises to overseas bond store or overseas port or overseas ultimate commercial premises.

So, there are a few options available. It’s important that you provide us with your name address and contact details, description of the commodity, number of packages, value to be insured, vessel and voyage number, flight details, departure and arrival date, container and seal number, this is all set out on Get A Quote

Now there are a number of countries that are on sanctions, in war zones, high risk or dubious by nature or have currency exposures that are abit suspect. I am sure anyone up with world events would understand which countries would appear high on “Sorry, we cannot offer a policy to that country” needless to say, just ask us the question.

From an overall costing perspective its a small percentage on the total value of your goods, Click here to get a Quote.

Regardless of whether you are shipping Personal Effects or Commercial Goods it is always suggested that you have a “packing list with insurance values” to acompany your goods and to assist you in knowing the true insurance value of your goods for insurance purposes.
We have a couple of templates you may download in (Word) and (PDF)
